11 Reasons Why Sunlighten is Awesome- Sunlighten Saunas Review

Sunlighten Infrared Saunas

Are you on the hunt for the perfect infrared sauna? Between the many brands, technology, and options, it can be overwhelming to decide which will work best for your lifestyle and needs.

One company you might come across in your research is Sunlighten Saunas. Founded in 1999 originally as Sunlight Saunas, this manufacturer is based out of Kansas. They offer several lines of infrared saunas that feature their own proprietary carbon heaters.

Below, we’re taking a closer look at Sunlighten’s quality and innovations to help you narrow down your list.

Sunlighten Infrared Sauna Quality & Innovation

Sunlighten infrared saunas are available in three series, each of which offers different features and technology. Regardless of the sauna style or model, the manufacturer values innovation, quality, and safety.

Process

Sunlighten Saunas are manufactured in Vietnam, where their team is closely involved in all stages of the production process, including:

  1. Premium Wood Selection: Sunlighten hand-selects their eco-friendly wood, kiln-dries it, and then matches the color and grains on each sauna to ensure a beautiful finished product.
  2. Quality Framework: Sunlighten saunas are twice the weight of their competitors’ because they use 100% solid, non-toxic wood. The tongue-and-groove boards are 10mm sanded to 8mm, instead of the industry standard of 8mm sanded to 5mm.
  3. Cut, Assembly & Frame Testing: The manufacturer cuts their panels precisely using a CNC machine. Each sauna is then assembled and checked for quality craftsmanship.
  4. Electrical Installation & Testing: At this stage, the factory installs all ETL-certified wiring and electronics. The sauna exterior is then sealed with a natural finish.
  5. Final Quality Check: Sunlighten assembles the sauna one more time to test electrical components and EMF levels. The sauna is then disassembled and each part is wrapped and carefully packed in two to three boxes and shipped to the Sunlighten warehouse in Kansas City.
  6. Careful Delivery: Sunlighten usually delivers saunas curbside using a lift gate and two men who leave the package in a garage or dry place.

The Sunlighten team works directly with their designers, engineers, and scientists to constantly innovate and improve upon their saunas.

Additionally, Sunlighten infrared saunas must undergo rigorous health and safety inspections, including third-party tests and certifications. They even assign home office employees to oversee the complete manufacturing process, including sourcing safe and sustainable materials to making regular visits to their Vietnam manufacturing facilities.

When it comes to sauna safety, electromagnetic fields (EMF) are likely one of the first things that come to mind. Sunlighten saunas feature ultra-low EMF technology, meaning they give off virtually no EMF. The manufacturer explains that their exclusive manufacturing process essentially cancels out EMF levels.

Materials

All Sunlighten Saunas are built with non-toxic premium wood, inside and out. This includes Basswood and Cedar options for both the Signature and Amplify series. The brand’s latest and greatest line of infrared saunas, the mPulse series, gives the option of Basswood, Eucalyptus, and a Euca/Cedar combo. There is no hidden plywood.

Not to mention, the patented Solocarbon® heaters include a proprietary blend of FDA-approved materials and are heat-sealed to withstand extreme temperatures so that no unhealthy gases are released during usage.

Solocarbon Far-infrared Heating Panels

Sunlighten’s original patented carbon emitters, the Solocarbon far-infrared heating panels, are used in their Signature® Far Infrared and Amplify collections. The active ingredient in these emitters is a special coating that emits the highest quality and quantity of infrared heat. Each Solocarbon panel is made up of three separate layers which are cured at 320 degrees.

According to third-party testing, the Solocarbon heaters have a 95% emissivity. In other words, they are more efficient and consume less energy than their competitors. The large surface area of each panel evenly distributes heat so that they maintain a constant lower temperature optimal for far infrared therapy. They are also safe and effective because Sunlighten uses only FDA approved materials.

Solocarbon 3-in-1® Heating Panel

Sunlighten mPulse Infrared Sauna

The manufacturer’s latest heating technology is used in Sunlighten’s mPulse infrared saunas. The Solocarbon 3-in-1 is one heater that produces mid, near, and far-infrared wavelengths at once.

This innovative sauna heater is designed with non-toxic, highly emissive carbonized bamboo as a protective cover on the Solocarbon heating technology. There is a separate layer of Kapton® polyimide, a lightweight material used in space applications, which can be heated independently to much higher temperatures in order to generate mid-infrared heat.

Finally, the Solocarbon 3-in-1 emitter’s LED technology produces consistent near-infrared wavelengths without dangerous levels of heat or light.

Magne-Seal

To further maximize the efficiency of their saunas, Sunlighten developed Magne-Seal, a patented magnetic locking system that eliminates unsightly clips, buckles, and screws. Magne-Seal enables both easy assembly and breakdown of the sauna. The system also creates a stronger seal between the walls to keep heat in and cold air out. It is both powerful and flexible, preventing cracks and warps because the wood can expand and contract as the sauna heats up and cools down.

A Luxurious Alternative: Saunacore Infrared Saunas

While a Sunlighten infrared sauna is a high-quality choice, USA Health & Wellness has conducted a significant amount of research showing that a Saunacore sauna is a better alternative. This Canadian manufacturer has innovations of their own and takes a great deal of pride in their quality and safety-first mindset.

Saunacore Infrared Saunas

100% Canadian Made

That’s right, Saunacore engineers and manufactures all of their infrared saunas in Canada. All of their materials and parts are sourced from North America, meaning easy and efficient service or parts replacement in the rare necessary case.

High-quality Materials & Craftsmanship

Another perk of being Canadian-based? Saunacore sources Canadian Cedar from one of the finest mills in the country. This wood is kiln-dried and naturally decay-resistant, allowing for much thicker cabinet walls. In fact, each wall is dual or triple construction to ensure highly-efficient insulation. This is why any Saunacore infrared sauna can be converted for outdoor use!

Plus, the company sources its metal components from one of the largest and most reputable metal suppliers in the United States. And to give you added peace-of-mind, Saunacore is the only manufacturer that uses NO adhesives or glues.

Saunacore’s company president is even involved in the processes and products being manufactured on the plant floor daily. Every sauna is assembled and tested prior to leaving the factory, he gives his final seal of approval, and they are off!

Innovation

Each Saunacore infrared sauna is built with their patented Infra-Core concave solid ceramic heaters. These emitters housed in a surgical stainless steel housing with stainless steel deflectors and shields.

What does this mean? They are highly efficient and safe. But there is a lot more to this unique heating system than that—learn more about the Infra-Core technology.

The Canadian brand doesn’t skimp when it comes to options, either. Their product catalog includes infrared saunas, traditional saunas, and dual-purpose saunas. Dual-purpose units give users the option to enjoy the benefits of both infrared and traditional heat, depending on their health needs and preferences.

Safety First

The Infra-Core ceramic heaters produce low EMF levels, so you can be sure you and any loved ones who enjoy a sweat can do so safely. The third-party test results found almost nonexistent EMFs!

Finally, Saunacore ensures all of their products (excluding Sunset Infrared Saunas) are Canadian Standards Certified (CSA). This safety standards testing has rigorous requirements. The electrical components of the saunas are also tested according to UL and CE safety standards.

If you’ve been researching Sunlighten Saunas, consider Saunacore first. To learn more about these innovative infrared saunas and for help finding the perfect unit for your home and needs, contact us at 207-619-4291 or shop our selection of Saunacore saunas today!
